My autumn semester of 2010 in the city of Brno (Czech Republic) according to the Erasmus Mundus program was invaluable experience not only in the academic plan. The university Masarik who not unreasonably is famous for the strong school of social sciences, shortly, undoubtedly, becomes leading higher education institution in the country, and already to them became in some areas of a science. The strong teaching structure, a variety of mentioned subjects and a set of conferences and lectures of foreign professors on the international relations dispelled in me doubts and stereotypes about teaching in the countries of the former east block.
Cultural acquaintance with Europe and set of the cultures existing side by side was the main sense of all program. Spaniards, Poles, Turks, Americans were my neighbors in a hostel. In some months of visits of occupations and travel, borders between people and the countries are erased: your friend doesn't matter any more, from what country, you will safely borrow it the last krone. I saw, how Turks were on friendly terms with Greeks, Albanians smiled to Serbians, everywhere there was only a world and friendship language. If there are quiet places on this planet, our hostel on Vinařská Street was one of them. It would be desirable to hope, looking at our generation of students, as the world becomes similar to how we amicably lived.
Naturally, the most difficult two things in such programs is to get used at the beginning and to say goodbye at the end. In the anthem of the Czech Republic it is sung: «Kde domov můj?» - «Where my house?». It was difficult to me to answer this question, when I came back home from Brno. The part me, of course, remained with my friends scattered on all corners of a planet: after all the house where wait.
Therefore, if in you there are forces and desire to test if you are ready to study new and every minute to be surprised, if in you lives not only the young scientist, but also the citizen, ready to represent the country at world level, I advise to you to participate in the Erasmus Mundus program – it will open in you new potentials, becomes one of the brightest pages of your student's life.
