About the faculty

Interview with the Dean Nurbolat Dzhaychibekov

Faculty functioned since 1962 as the Faculty of Mathematics in the structure of S. Seyfullin Tselinograd Pedagogical University (TPI). After establishment L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in 1996, based on CPI and Tselinograd Engineering Institute the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology (FMIT) was established on 24 December 2002. Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics was isolated from the FMIT in June 2010.

There are 4 departments in the faculty:

• Department of Fundamental and Applied Mathematics;

• Department of Algebra and Geometry

• Department of Higher Mathematics and methodology of mathematics;

• Department of Mechanics.

Faculty:

There are 15 doctors of sciences, professors, more than 30 candidates of science, associate professors and 10 Ph.D. doctors, an academician of NAS RK (M. Otelbayev), two State Prize winners of RK (M. Otelbayev, U.U. Umirbayev), two winners of national scholarships for achievement in science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (R. Oinarov, E.D. Nursultanov).

The mission of the Faculty

Faculty prepares highly qualified specialists in the field of mathematics, mechanics, and mathematical and computer modeling who can operate successfully in different areas, creating a comfortable environment for student learning, providing opportunities for creativity and intellectual and personal cultivation of students, masters and doctoral Ph.D. A guide for faculty is the model of leading Russian and foreign university schools that implement a portfolio of multi-level educational programs and are actively developing research. Creating an open and transparent system for the provision of educational services with flexible programs that monitor the dynamics of modern technologies in order to provide better meet the needs of government bodies, various companies and firms for expertise in quality education, as well as to meet the desire of students to obtain their qualitative and required education, development of contacts with government agencies, organizations, enterprises and firms with a view to further cooperation in scientific, educational and industrial sectors.
