Scientific activity

U. Umirbayev was awarded the International Prize Moore American Mathematical Society first among the CIS scientists in 2007 for solving large scientific problems about Nagata automorphisms.

U. Umirbayev was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology in 2009.

Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan has been organizing the contest “The best tutorr of the university” since 2005, which is to encourage and support provides for the grant for teachers of higher educational institutions who have high achievement in research and teaching.

During this period, 10 professors and associate professors of the faculty were awarded the national grant ‘The best tutor of high school”:

- 2005 - M. Otelbayev, N. Temirgaliyev; A.B. Tungatarov; K.N. Ospanov; N.A. Bokayev; E.D. Nursultanov;

- 2006 - U.U. Umirbayev;

- 2007 - N.Zh. Dzhaychibekov, R. Oinarov. E.S. Temirbekov;

The faculty dissertation council:

- Dissertation Council D.14.61.50 for the degree of candidate and doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, specialty 01.01.01 - mathematical analysis and 01.01.02 - differential equations and mathematical physics (Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan M. Otelbayev);

3 candidate theses, 7 Ph.D theses, including 2 Ph.D doctoral dissertation defended in foreign countries (Z. Abdykalikova, S. Burgumbayeva) and 2 Ph.D defended doctoral degree licensee (A. Temirkhanova, L. Sarybekova) are protected in the 2008-2009 academic year.

More than 30 articles were published in high-rating foreign scientific journals by teachers of the faculty for the 2008 - 2010 years.

Prize “For scientific research in mathematics, published in international rating journals”, awarded by the rector of L.N. Gumilyov ENU B. Zh. Abdraiym, was awarded to:

- Professor N. Temirgaliyev for publication in the popular mathematical journal«Дифференциальные уравнения» (“Differential Equations”);

- Kazakhstan NAS academician M. Otelbayev for publication in the «Сибирский математический журнал» (“Siberian Mathematical Journal”);

- Professor E.D. Nursultanov for a series of studies published in the Journal «Математические заметки» (“Mathematical Notes”).

The faculty in conjunction with the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University issues "Eurasian Mathematical Journal” since 2003, which is available in English from 2010.

Over the past 3 years the faculty has held following international conferences involving foreign scientists:

- An international conference “Function theory and computational methods”, dedicated to the 60^th anniversary of Professor N. Temirgaliyev, was held in June 2007;

- An international conference “Weighted estimates of integral and differential operators”, dedicated to the 60^th anniversary of Professor R. Oynarov, was held in September 2007;

- VI of the Kazakh-Russian International Scientific Conference “Mathematical modeling of scientific and technological and environmental problems in the petroleum industry” was held in October 2007.

- An international conference “Actual problems of the theory of partial differential equations and their applications”, dedicated to the 60^th anniversary of Professor A.B. Tungatarov, was held in September 2008.

The first Republican Student Scientific Conference on Mathematics, Mechanics and Informatics was held in November 2008.
