Department of Turkology

At the first September 2010 in L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian national university at the faculty of International relations Turkology department was established. The department was opened by the initiative of the university rector B.Zh. Abdiraiym in the context of state and president N. Nazarbayev policy, aimed at development and integration in political, economical, cultural relations between modern Turkic peoples.

The aim of the department: training of specialists-turkologists, who can show their worth in educational worldwide in the frame of BA-MA-PhD educational system functioning in RK.

Head of the department – well-known turkologist M. Zholdasbekov, whose transactions gained general acceptance in Kazakhstan and in foreign countries.

There are 5 professors at the department: ph.sc.d., professor N.G. Shaimerdinova, ph.sc.d., professor M.K. Eskeyeva, ph.sc.d., professor G.S. Sagidolda, ph.sc.d., professor K. Sartkozhaulu, ph.sc.d., S.M. Sysdikov. Scientific activity of the professorate covers linguistical, historical, archaeological aspects of turkology.

And also young talented teachers work at the department, among them A.R. Mayemirova and L.S. Urakova gotten PhD degree in Turkey.

The department runs teaching of 13 undergraduates and 90 students, among the latter 14 turkologists (first intake), 35 orientalists (the Turkish language), 41 students of foreign philology (the Turkish language).

In addition, the department runs servicing teaching of 77 students of international relations and tourism specialty.

The department PTS takes part in the faculty and university activities, proved by participation in The third International interdisciplinary conference «Gumboldt-Kolleg» and The Languages festival etc.
