Head of department of press and publishing - Namazaly Omashev

Namazaly Omashev is a doctor of philological sciences, professor, full member (academician) of the National Science Academy in the Higher School of Kazakhstan, full member (academician) of Journalism Academy, member of the Journalists Union and Writers Union of Kazakhstan as well as winner of the premium of the President of Kazakhstan in mass media.

Short biography:

Editor, senior editor of the Kazakh radio (1974-1977); teacher in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (1977-1979), senior teacher (1979-1986), senior lecturer (1986-1992), head of radio journalism department, professor (1993), member of the World organization on a mass communication and journalism ORBICOM in UNESCO, professor of UNESCO, dean of journalism faculty (1995-2001), head of UNESCO department on a mass communication and journalism, chairman of dissertational board on journalism (1996), pro-rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (2001), director of institute on studying journalism in Eurasian National University.

Main achievements:

Namazaly Omashev wrote 5 monographs, 6 textbooks, 5 collections of scientific-journalistic works, 7 manuals and more than 300 scientific, publicistic articles. Under his management 20 candidate and 3 doctor's dissertations were defended. In 2001 the International Biographic Center of Cambridge (England) nominated Omashev N. as “Person of Year”, awarded the special diploma «Declaration of Recognition» and «Medal of honor». In 2003 he was awarded a breastplate by the Ministry of Science and Education «For development of science in the Republic of Kazakhstan». In 2004 for the significant contribution to social and economic and cultural development of the country he was awarded the honorary title «Kazakstannin enbek sinirgen kairatkeri». In 2005 he received appreciation of President N.Nazarbayev. In 2007 he was added to the list of outstanding people of the world in XXI century by the International Biographic Center of Cambridge (England).
