The department "Heat Power Engineering" is ready to implement the principles of electricity generation by fuel cells in the education program by the results of the workshop in Swiss Pavilion.
Despite the vacation period, the teaching staff and students of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU participate in the events of the international exhibition EXPO.
On July 28, 2017, the students and the faculty of the "Heat Power Engineering" department took part in the workshop "Microbial fuel cells" presented by Professor Haute Ecole d’Ingenierie Valais Fabian Fisher.
The workshops consisted of 2 parts. At the beginning of the seminar, the professor introduced a brief introduction to microbial fuel cells, which are a future source of energy that converts waste water, food waste and other organic substances into bioelectricity. In the second part of the workshop a MFC-Kit for small scale experiments was handed out and the participants run an experiment to show the principle functions of a microbial fuel cell. The participants highlighted friendly and warm atmosphere.
In addition, all participants received certificates.
The workshop was held by the support of Swissnex Lab, which the main goal of which is to help in establishment of cooperation between universities; run joint events, seminars and promote international cooperation.
It should be noted that on June 21 this year the company organized a seminar of the University of Applied Sciences of Lucerne "An Entire CO2 Neutral Region" with the participation of professors and students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Faculty of Architecture of ENU. During the event the participants split into groups and worked on a project of the city free of carbon dioxide.
Also, from September 4 to September 5, 2017, a joint Kazakh-Swiss seminar will be held with the participation of the University of Zurich "Future livelihoods in Kazakhstan: Current developments, problems and perspectives", where the presentations will be presented by professors from the University of Zurich, ENU and KIMEP.
Swissnex Lab assisted in the meeting representatives of the University of Applied Sciences of Zurich with their colleagues acting director of the Department of International Cooperation Anastassiya Karmelyuk and Professor Askar Aryngazin at ENU. The meeting discussed issues of potential cooperation in the field of education and science.
