It has become a good tradition of the Russian Philology Department to hold the annual Nurgaliyev Readings named after the outstanding scientist and thinker of Kazakhstan, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize, founder of Kazakh theatre studies and theatre criticism, theorist of literature and writer Rymgali Nurgali.
The doors of the hospitable Russian Philology Department have opened at the seventh time to host all participants at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Scientific Community of Students of the 21st Century. Philological Sciences" (VII Nurgaliyev Readings). This year the event was held jointly with the partners of the Russian Philology Department: the Institute of Eastern Slavic Philology of the University of Silesia (Katowice, Poland).
The purpose of the conference was not only to involve students of various specialties in the research activity in the field of philology, to identify the scientific and creative potential among young researchers and approbation of results of scientific works, but also that the Russian Philology Department with its Head Kadisha Nurgali within the walls of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University attempted to assemble in a cohesive team schoolchildren (future entrants), students, master students and their teachers, in a single impulse to discuss the actual problems of philology.
On March 2, at the opening ceremony of the conference the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Doctor of Philology, Professor Sh.Zharkynbekova greeted participants and noted the importance of the event for the history and science of Kazakhstan. Doctor of Philology, Professor K.Nurgali expressed gratitude to schoolchildren, undergraduates, master students and their tutors for their interest in the conference, works and scientific activity of Rymgali Nurgali.
In addition, Kadisha Nurgali read a written request from the Dean of the Transport and Energy Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor T.Suleimenov, who noted that "Academician R.Nurgali owns fundamental monographic studies on the history of Kazakh theatre and drama. He was one of the first who turned to works of repressed writers: A.Baitursynov, M.Dulatov, Zh.Aimauytov, I.Dzhansugurov, B.Mailin. He translated works of L.Tolstoy, N.Pogodin, A.Keshokov, N.Bragina, Estonian authors". Besides, T.Suleimenov mentioned fundamental monograph works of the academician and encyclopedias published under his scientific guidance, and also wished good luck to participants of the conference.
At the plenary session, speakers were researchers in the field of literary criticism, linguistics and teaching methods: students of bachelor and master's degrees of the Russian Philology Department, students of non-linguistic specialties, foreign students from Korea and France and schoolchildren.
The conference was divided on four sections: “Comparative linguistics, translation studies and intercultural communication”, “Actual problems of studying Russian at school and university”, “Poetics of a literary text”, “Modern methods of analysis and interpretation of a literary text”. The most topic issues were the methodology of teaching Russian and literature in schools and universities, the interpretation of Russian classics, the poetics of Russian and foreign literature, the analysis of contemporary literature, theoretical aspects of linguistics, and questions posed to linguists and translators by multilingual space.
