Graduate students of the Architecture and Civil Engineering Faculty of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in the period from October 22 to November 1, 2018, passed research internship at Incheon National University, Incheon, Republic of Korea. Internship was held under the invitation and under the supervision Professor Eun Chul Shin (Dean of the College of Urban Science, Incheon National University).
The purposes of this internship were to familiarize with modern methods of organizing the construction process and optimize it in the Republic of Korea, study foreign experience in construction and conduct research in the field of geotechnical engineering and foundation engineering, study the test methods of modern building structures and materials for civil and industrial use. Studying the experience of building railways, bridges and tunnels, as well as strategies for the creative education of young professionals in the framework of the Future City Design program.
The program of scientific internship was very dense and rich. Undergraduates listened to lectures by leading professors of the Incheon National University, as well as heads of large companies in the field of production and installation of building materials and equipment. Technical excursions were conducted to the assembly shop of SUNGWON Heavy Machinery and OROKIS, where pile driving machines and their components are manufactured.
In addition, technical excursions to construction sites located on the territory of the Incheon Free Economic Zone were organized. The urban infrastructure of the smart city of Songdo was studied.
During the internship students familiarized themselves with projects and advanced technologies developed by professors of the Incheon University. For example, Hi-FA technology developed by Professor Pak Byong Gong is based on a material that is a surfactant that provides high fluidity and viscosity when added to Portland cement. Additionally, such projects as “Introduction of intelligent water network technology to the water resources system and water distribution” under the leadership of Professor Jang Don Wu and the project of professors Eun Chul Shin and Kim Sun Hwan “Future City” were studied.
Professor Yang Tae Chul presented a new technology for constructing HONEYCELL foundations - prefabricated concrete cells (in the form of honeycombs), which serve to reinforce the concrete base and load distribution of buildings and structures. This technology is already used at one of the projects of the SAMSUNG company.
Under the guidance of Professor Kang John Koo, students carried out laboratory tests to determine the properties of building materials and soil samples in the laboratory of university. Students studied usage of unmanned aerial vehicles in construction.
Graduate students of the Eurasian National University want to express their gratitude for the organization of this internship to Korean side represented by Dean of the College of Urban Science Professor Eun Chul Shin and his team from Incheon National University, and Kazakhstani side represented by staff of the Eurasian National University.
