Periodic system of chemical elements has become a major milestone in the development of atomic-molecular theory. In virtue of the table, the modern concept of a chemical element was formed, and the concepts of simple substances and compounds were refined.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Periodic Table UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - declared 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.
In the world there are various graphical versions of the periodic table. Interest caused a 4D-table, which is located in the office of the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates. 4D-table "Bill Gates" consists of a wall cabinet, which contains the details of the elements. For example, if a cell in this cabinet corresponds to an element of Fe (iron), then there is a product made of iron.
It was decided to implement this type of table with changes and additions: the cells were filled in the 4D table with the requisites that are available in Kazakhstan. For example, if the element is Cu (copper), then the cell contains copper products that are produced in Kazakhstan. In the future, a backlit map will be installed above the stand, where the copper deposit lights up when we open the door of the wall cabinet. Also in the center there will be a liquid crystal screen showing the clips about the periodic table, as well as mineral distribution and production based on them. In addition, each cell of the element in this table is provided with a QR code, which, when scanned, contains a link to the Wikipedia web page. Thus, this 4D-table develops patriotic feelings of schoolchildren, because, as you know, in our country, out of 118 elements of the periodic table, 99 were found in the bowels of Kazakhstan, reserves of 70 were explored, more than 60 elements were involved in production.
The creation of the 4D table was financed by the Palace of Schoolchildren of Nur-Sultan and installed in the office of the Chemist-Researcher class-room. The author of the idea is Candidate of Chemical Sciences, PhD, Director of the Institute of Applied Chemistry, Suleimen Yerlan Melsuly. The leading researcher of the Institute of Applied Chemistry, Sissengaliyeva Gulsana Galimzhankyzy, made a significant contribution to the development and implementation of the project.
At the opening ceremony of the 4D periodic table, the director of the Palace of schoolchildren of the city of Nur-Sultan Irgebai Yerbol Іslyamuly and the Dean of the faculty of natural sciences of the ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Shapekova Nellya Lukpankyzy.
In the opening ceremony of the table teachers and scientists of L.N. Gumilyov ENU, Kazakh University of Technology and Business, S.Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University, and teachers of the Palace of Schoolchildren of Nur-Sultan, pupils of schools, journalists of newspapers and television attended.
In addition, from December 25, 2018 to May 26, 2019, the Institute of Applied Chemistry and the Palace of Schoolchildren of Nur-Sultan announced a competition for the “Periodic Table of Chemical Elements 4D “Kazakhstan” project for secondary school students of 7-11 grades and 1st year students of Kazakhstani universities.
In the conditions of the competition, participants had to consider the project of an interactive map in order to demonstrate all the chemical elements in Kazakhstan. They should have had the following information on the map: - a map with the territory of Kazakhstan; - shelf, consisting of separate cells for each chemical element; - placement of the item on the shelf, which contains a chemical element; - interactive aspects of the project. In addition, write a mini-essay explaining the work of the project.
The winners of the prizes were invited to the opening ceremony of the 4D periodic table and were awarded with commemorative medals and certificates. They are, a student of grade 9 of the Lyceum School No. 38 of Nur-Sultan Akybai Amira and Sharipova Dilnaz - 3rd place; students of the 11th and 8th grades Adilbek Bekzat and Kamza Talant the Intellectual School of Nazarbayev on the direction of Chemistry and Biology of Ust-Kamenogorsk city - 2nd place; and a student of the 10th grade of the lyceum №1 of the city of Nur-Sultan Iosif Kutateladze - 1st place.
"The periodic table of chemical elements 4D "Kazakhstan" has no analogues in Kazakhstan. It is planned in the further to develop the table in the form of interactive programming. "The periodic table of chemical elements 4D "Kazakhstan" is useful for the development of interest in chemistry of schoolchildren and students.
