The L.N. Gumilyov ENU delegation that arrived in Bulgaria, Pomorie, for a course of advanced training, held a number of targeted meetings with scientists from the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (https://www.uni-sofia.bg/) to discuss further scientific and academic cooperation.
Professors of the Social Pedagogy and Self-Knowledge Department, L.N. Gumilyov ENU, doctor of pedagogical sciences Shalgynbayeva K.K., doctor of pedagogical sciences Toleubekova R.K., candidate of pedagogical sciences Sholpankulova G.K. attended individual meetings with the professor of the Ethnology Department, the Faculty of History, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Dr. Irina Koleva. The partner professors discussed not only innovative educational technologies of university teaching, but also the possibilities for further development of the Bulgarian-Kazakhstani scientific and academic cooperation: scientific leadership of ENU doctoral students as a foreign consultant, research internships of PhD students of the SU and ENU at a partner university, development of academic mobility program and joint research projects.
Head of the History of Kazakhstan Department, of ENU. L.N. Gumilyov, Professor, doctor of historical sciences Mussabalina G.T. held individual discussions with the head of the Ancient History, Fracology and Medieval History Department, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Dr. Alexander Nikolov, under the direction of Violeta Dobichina, General Director of the National Center for Advanced Studies of Pedagogical Specialists “Predcheti BG”, Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria. In the course of the work of the representatives of the two partner universities, there were identified main areas of cooperation of the faculty of the two departments. It is planned to conduct an online lecture by Professor A. Nikolov on the world history issues and to hold an international summer school for ENU students of history. Moreover, the upcoming joint publications with Bulgarian scientists in conference proceedings in Kazakhstan and Bulgaria and the academic exchange of students, undergraduates and doctoral students were discussed.
The meeting of the professor of the Social Pedagogy and Self-Knowledge Department, L.N. Gumilyov ENU , doctor of pedagogical sciences Menlibekova G.Zh. with the professor of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Dr. Irina Koleva. During the meeting, the two professors discussed the issues of improving the system of PhD training in SU and ENU and the development of priority areas of modern scientific research in the field of higher and postgraduate education, as well as raising the requirements for the quality of master’s and PhD’s dissertations.
Representatives of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department, the Faculty of Philology, L.N. Gumilyov ENU, candidates of philological sciences Beisembayeva Zh.A. and Dүkembay G.N. held a meeting with the Dean of Classical and Modern Philology of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Professor, Dr. Madlen Danova and Director General of the National Center for Advanced Studies of Pedagogical Specialists “Predcheti BG” of the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria Violeta Dobichina. During the meeting, representatives of the two universities discussed quite relevant issues for the future partnership: joint leadership of ENU doctoral students in the specialty “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages”, exchange of students and undergraduates in the framework of the academic mobility program for one and two semesters, implementation of scientific internships for master students of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department at Sofia University and internships at ENU of bachelor and master students of the Bulgarian university who study the Kazakh language as their second foreign language. Moreover, Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department Beisembayeva Zh.A. and Bulgarian scientists tried to identify existing opportunities for the development of a double-degree program for English teacher training.
During the discussions, a number of differences between the masters’ training systems in Bulgaria and Kazakhstan were identified: duration of training (1 year and 2 years), requirements for research publications and final certification. Nevertheless, the parallels allow considering this possibility: the proposed training scheme (2 semesters in SU and 2 semesters at ENU), scientific internships, joint scientific supervision of master students, their participation in scientific conferences in Bulgaria and Kazakhstan.
Partnership of scientists and heads of structural units of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University has ample opportunities for further comprehensive development. We wish the two universities-partners further scientific and academic successes!
