From July 28 to August 10, 2019 Associate Professor of the Tourism Department, the Faculty of Economics, candidate of economics Assel Baimbetova was staying for a research training at the Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi in Izmir (Foça).
Associate Professor A. Baimbetova had an externship on the theme “Internationalization of Education. Improving Skills on Innovative Teaching Methods and Exploring the Development of Regional Tourism Sources” in accordance with the annual work schedule of the holder of the grant “Best University Professor of the Republic of Kazakhstan – 2018”.
During the two weeks of training, she attended lectures by leading scientists of the university and had trainings on the theme “Innovative Methods in the System of Higher Education”, “Internationalization of Higher Education Based on Different Countries and Universities”, “Building a Teacher’s Brand: Technology, Step-by-Step Instruction, Application Area”, “Modern Teaching Methods: Use of Cases and Technologies in the Educational Process ”,“ Practical Aspects of Training Specialists in Service Sector”, etc. In the process there also was a lecture on innovative educational methods of internationalization and the latest trends in higher education.
Kazakhstani professor had a chance to get to know the scientific infrastructure of the university, received individual consultations from university professors on the use of innovative methods in teaching, got the opportunity to work in the scientific library of the university as well as received advice on writing articles and developing regional tourism. There were presented the latest trends in education as well as developed skills for working and introducing innovations in the learning process, reaching the international level and transforming knowledge into an intellectual product that will be in demand by a wide audience of students outside the university.
Associate Professor A. Baimbetova made a presentation titled “Internationalization of Education and Integration Processes in L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University ”at the training “Improving Skills on Innovative Teaching Methods and Exploring the Development of Regional Tourism Sources” that was attended by international professors. The speaker presented to the training participants information about the state of internationalization of education in one of the leading and young universities of Kazakhstan – L.N.Gumilyov ENU, cited data on the university’s rankings and on the site for foreign students, the state of academic mobility of faculty and students as well as internationalization of educational services.
The program of professional training ended with organization and holding of a round table discussion on the theme “Actual Issues of Training for Tourism Industry”. The participating professors exchanged their own experience and touched upon issues related to the development of the tourism industry, the tourism sector and hospitality.
The Tourism Department of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU has collaborated with this university in training personnel for hospitality and tourism industry. The speeches of other participants of the round table were discussed with interest, their reports were devoted to various areas of activity: new market trends for tourism products, the use of archaeological heritage in tourism, training of tourist staff, a system for evaluating the performance of world-class hotel and restaurant staffs, etc.
Upon completion of the training, the ENU professor was given a certificate of having a research training course at the Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi in Izmir.
