Basic directions of scientific activity of ENU named by L.N. Gumilev

General direction of science research activity of the University is participating in settling the main problem of fundamental science, as well as priority directions of social-economic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to Strategy of industrial-innovational development of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2003-2015 years priority of industrial-innovational policy is development and creation of potential competitive, including export oriented production, working in sectors of economy in direction of not raw materials.

In the sphere of social and humanitarian sciences the priority direction is scientifically-theoretical planning of historical-cultural, social-economic, political basis of social development in the context of fortification independent Kazakhstan and increasing its competitive.

One of the main goals of scientific activity is defined by directivity of the University for preparation of high qualified specialists for science of Kazakhstan.

There is successfully realizing “State program of education in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2005-2010 years” in the University for achieving the structure of education of bachelor and master to be similar with the international standards and requirements of modern world. Introduced a program of preparing specialists by holistic three - step model of preparing specialists (bachelor – magistracy – doctor PhD), especially on introduction of doctor PhD in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Lasting preparation measures of pedagogical – science specialists of high quality throughout the graduate school, doctor (traditional), also throughout the institute of mutual researching.

Science research work of humanitarian and natural-technical directions are implementing directly in the faculties and pulpits, as well as in specialized subdivisions of the University.

Special attention is paid to providing of using and participating in all levels of studying research work as more as possible students, masters and graduate school students.
