Information on qualifying examination for the candidate degree

As the Regional centre the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian national university organizes and conducts examinations for candidate’s degree on the following general scientific disciplines: history and philosophy of science, foreign language (English, German, French, Arabic) and the Kazakh language and on special disciplines (on specialties defending in the Dissertation Councils from the day of presenting application in a month) twice a year.

Requirements to examinations for candidate’s degree

1. History and philosophy of science (examination is conducted in Russian and Kazakh in two stages – test and oral examination). Competitors who gather 41 scores out of 100 questions are admitted to the second, i.e. oral examination. Payment – 8111 tenge.
2. Foreign languages (English, German, French, Arabic) in two stages – test and oral examination; examination for candidate’s degree on a foreign language is passed in the presence of a certificate or other document about passing of examination in international educational organizations (ACCELS, the British Council, the Gete Institute, the French Alliance), on standardized technology of TOEFL, IELTS, DAF, DELF, DALF. The results should be not less than 60% out of maximal threshold level. Payment -8763 tenge.
3. The competitors, carrying out their thesis work in Russian, pass the Kazakh language, they write an abstract on the scientific direction in Kazakh in the volume of 15-20 pages and pass to the corresponding chair and receive admission to the examination (the title-page is attached) payment – 7000 tenge.
4. The competitors are admitted to the examination on the general course and the special discipline after passing of all general subjects. Payment – 7000 tenge.

1. Personal statement (admission to the examination on specialty is carried out after presenting an application in a month with the permission of the Dissertation Council)
2. Personal registration blank, certified in the personnel department suiting job requirements.
3. Certified copy of a parchment with addendum.
4. list of publications, certified by the Academic Secretary and seal.
5. Certificate of the candidate examination admission (copy)
6. Letter-solicitation of the organization (higher educational establishment) on admission for passing examinations for candidate’s degree on a specialty.
7. Additional program on the dissertation theme, confirmed by the Chairman of the Dissertation Council.
8. Abstract of record of the university Academic Council on the dissertation theme confirmation.

Requirements for passing examinations for candidate’s degree on foreign languages

Examination for candidate’s degree consists of two stages: test and examination.

The test is consisted of 100 questions. It is necessary to gather 41 scores to pass the oral stage of the examination.

Examination ticket on foreign language consists of three questions:

1. Read and render in (English, German, French) the content of the text on specialty
2. read and render in(English, German, French) the content of the newspaper text.
3. Interview on the theme of the dissertation research.
