Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network visited ENU
The Eurasian National University hosted a meeting with Mostefa Souag, Director General of the International Television Company “Al Jazeera Media Network”.
During the meeting, Mostefa Saga spoke about the history of the formation of the TV company, its values, dwelt on the intricacies of the corporate structure of the community, and also answered questions from the audience.
Mostefa Souag also touched upon the issue of employment of ENU graduates and the externship of students of the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science on the TV channel. According to him, there is an opportunity for students to practice in the information hall of the TV channel in English.
He also noted the possibility of cooperation between scientists and university teachers with the TV channel in the field of scientific research.
"The homeland of Al Jazeera is the region of the Arabian Peninsula and no one expected that this kind of information center would appear here. Since its formation, the TV company has been responding to many challenges. For the first 6 years, Al Jazeera broadcast only to the Arab world. Initially, Al Jazeera was a single information channel, over time, the requirements for the channel increased due to the expansion of its name. This is how different branches of the TV company and new projects appeared," Mostefa Souag said.
Now, as the Director General of the company notes, only one English-language Al Jazeera channel is watched by more than 400 million viewers. The guest also said that at the moment the company is discussing issues of expanding the presence of the TV channel in Kazakhstan.
At the end of the meeting, the Eurasians thanked the guest for the visit, and also expressed hope for further cooperation.
