Google Academy is freely available search engine which indexes the full text of scientific publications of all formats and disciplines. GoogleScholar allows users to carry out search of a digital or physical copy of articles, whether it be online or in libraries. "Scientific" search results are generated with use of references from text-through journal articles, technical reports, pre-prints, dissertations, books and other documents, including the chosen web pages which are considered as "scientific".
What is the Google Academy?
The Google academy allows to carry out extensive search of scientific literature without effort. Using a uniform form of inquiry, it is possible to carry out search in various disciplines and on different sources, including articles which have passed reviewing, dissertations, books, papers and the reports published by publishing houses of scientific literature, professional associations, higher educational institutions and other scientific organizations. The Google academy allows to find the research most precisely corresponding to your inquiry, among a large quantity of scientific works.
Google Academy functions
- Search in various sources from one convenient page
- Search of articles, papers and bibliographic references
- Search of the full text of the document in library or a network
- Obtaining information on the main works in any area of researches
How the rating of articles is defined?
The Google academy classifies articles as well as scientists, estimating all text of each article, her author, the edition in which article appeared, and frequency of citing of this work in scientific literature. The most relevant results are always displayed on the first page.
How to prospect on the author?
Enter a name and a surname of the author, having quoted them: "And Vinogradov". For increase in number of results use instead of a full name the initials.
If too many documents with a mention of this author as a result are found, it is possible to use the operator "author:" for search of certain authors. For example, it is possible to use the following inquiries: [author:grapes], [author: "and grapes"] or [author: "to them grapes"].
The result still doesn't suit you? Try to use page of expanded search. For more information see councils on expanded search
How to prospect according to the name?
Enter the work name, having quoted it: "Bases of the theory of numbers". The Google academy will automatically find this work, and also other documents mentioning it.
How to find the last results of researches on a certain subject?
Choose the period interesting you from the dropping-out menu under heading "at any time". Results will be limited to the period set by you and sorted taking into account novelty of research and its relevance by your inquiry. When ordering such factors, as popularity of the author and the previous publications in magazines, and also the full text of each article and frequency of its citing are considered.
For what the reference "Similar articles" is necessary?
For each search result of Google Academy we try to define automatically most closely the related articles. To see the list of these articles it is possible, having pressed the reference "Similar articles" which is located near the majority of search results. The list of similar articles is sorted first of all by degree of their similarity with initial result, but relevance of each document is thus considered also. Search of the connected documents and books – often the best way for the first acquaintance to a new subject. However sometimes even experts with surprise find any work connected with their field of activity.
How to execute search of works in certain editions?
On page of expanded search it is possible to specify keywords which should appear both in article, and in its name. For more information see councils on expanded search of works in certain editions?
