According to the Rules for Granting of Academic Leaves to Students Studied in Educational Institutions approved by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No.124 dated March 14, 2008
Academic Leave is a period for which the student interrupts temporarily their training for health reasons, including maternity leave, as well as in connection with drafting in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. An academic leave is granted for a period of six months to one year, to consumptive students – from one year to two years. Also the academic leave may be granted to care for a child less than three years of age.
A student possessing the state educational grant shall continue their training on the basis of the state educational grant after their return from the leave.
For the student studying on the paid basis the payment for training shall be suspended for the whole period of the academic leave.
The academic leave for health reasons, as well as the maternity leave, shall be granted only on the basis of a medical report of the medical consultation commission issued by the students’ polyclinic servicing the educational institution.
The academic leave due to drafting in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall be granted only on the basis of the draft letter.
Academic child care leave shall be granted on the basis of the certificate of birth of child and the statement of the child health center.
For receiving of the academic leave the student shall submit an application with time of beginning and end of the leave mentioned (in due form) The above mentioned documents shall be attached to the application. The application shall be signed by the Dean of the faculty, Director of the Front-office and, for further issuing of the order, shall be delivered to the department of registration and academic mobility .
For return from the academic leave in the same procedure the application shall be submitted and the required documents shall be attached to the application (medical report of the medical consultation commission regarding state of health or copy of the certificate of birth of the child and the statement of the child health center, or a statement confirming return from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The student returned from the academic leave shall pass exams for the difference in the training plans in terms set by the deanery.
The difference not eliminated in due time shall be further deemed as the academic failure
