This volume is the outcome of the first ever international conference on the tri-regions (Central Asia, South Asia and the Middle East) organized by Faculty of International Relations, Eurasian National University, Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan where Dauran Abayev, Minister of Information and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan shared his valuable thoughts on the subject of the conference in his inaugural address and set the tone of the conference and this volume as well. Yerlan Sydykov, Rector of the Eurasian National University gave the welcome speech and wrote the foreword for this volume:
“The disintegration of the Soviet Union led to the formation of several newly independent states and the immense challenges in front of these newly independent states were not only had to re-build their own foreign policies, to seek their place on the international arena, but they were also faced with the challenges of acute internal policies. It has been twenty-eight years since Central Asian countries got independence in these years’ all the central Asian countries took myriad initiatives regarding the development and progress of the respective countries. Central Asian Countries not only instigated these initiatives but also implemented with veracity. Concerns such as global peace, security, and stability were the vanguards of each and every initiative particularly in the very early period of their independence and this demonstrates the commitment of central Asian countries toward their international responsibilities. Certainly, each Central Asian country is having its own way of the development primarily based on their national interest but this is also the fact that the number of global trends is emerging in the modern world, including both international security challenges and opportunities to build the nation and Central Asian countries are also not an exception in this context. That’s why it is significant to study the emerging trends and challenges in Central Asian Countries.
This Monograph, comprising well-researched contribution by prominent scholars, will go a long way in understanding the emerging trends and challenges in Central Asia Region. I wholeheartedly appreciate the commitment and assiduous efforts of the editors for bringing out this monograph. I am sure that the monograph shall become a reference material in the future”.
