Master students of the Architecture and Civil Engineering Faculty of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in the period from October 26 to November 5, 2019, passed research internship at Incheon National University, Incheon, Republic of Korea. Internship was held under the direct supervision of the Director of the Centre Future Cities of Incheon National University, Vice President for Asia of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, Professor Eun Chul Shin..
The purpose of this internship was: to study modern methods of organizing construction processes and their optimization; studying foreign construction experience and conducting research in the field of geotechnics and foundation engineering; the study of test methods for modern building structures and materials for civil and industrial purposes; study of the experience in the construction of railways, bridges and tunnels.
The program of scientific training was very dense and saturated. Master Students attended lectures by leading professors of the National University of Incheon, as well as heads of large companies in the construction industry. Technical tours were conducted in testing laboratory of the Korea Scaffolding Institute, which specializes in testing mounting clamps and beams intended for construction and installation works.
Technical excursions to construction sites of the largest construction companies Posco Construction and Engineering and DAEWOO were also organized. Undergraduates studied the technology of building high-rise buildings using the example of the Parc1 skyscraper. Graduates visited the G-Towers project, which demonstrated the latest technologies used in the further development of the city.
As part of the scientific internship program, undergraduates took part in the Smart City - 2019 International Symposium, where 6 presentations-posters with scientific reports on the topic of their research were presented from the Kazakh side. In addition, Professor Askar Zhussupbekov, Professor of the Eurasian National University, took part in the Symposium from Kazakhstan with Master Students as invited lecturer with keynote lecture: Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) is Smart City with Innovation Geoecosystem. At this international event also participated of key specialists from Holland, Singapore, France, China, Spain, USA, Hong Kong, South Korea as well.
During the internship, undergraduates familiarized themselves with the projects and advanced technologies developed by scientists at Incheon National University.
Under the guidance of Professor Kang Jeong-Ku, undergraduates performed laboratory tests to determine the properties of building materials and soil samples in the laboratory of the University. The experience of using unmanned aerial vehicles in construction was studied.
2nd year undergraduate students of the Department of Civil Engineering of the Eurasian National University would like to express their gratitude for organizing this internship to the Korean side represented by Dean of the College of Urban Science, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Ju Moon Park and his team, Departments of Incheon National University (Professor Eun Chul Shin), as well as Eurasian National University (Professor Askar Zhussupbekov, Associate Professor Serik Yenkebayev).
