The Faculty of Philology continues to work in the format of distance learning. The quarantine situation caused significant difficulties for teachers and students. In addition to the difficulties with connecting to the network in some settlements, the issue of providing large families with computers or tablets was also relevant. Especially in families who need to attend online classes at the same time. Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov was one of the first Kazakhstani universities to provide technical equipment to teachers and staff with many children. The teachers and students of the Faculty of Philology were also provided with modern computers during the quarantine period. The faculty teachers express their gratitude.
In August 2020, the dean of the faculty Beisenbai A.B. online met with Heads of departments and teaching staff and presented a plan for the new academic year. Dean of the Faculty of Philology Beisenbai Ardak Bakhytovich met with students through the virtual Dean's office. During the meeting, the Dean answered students' questions. The distance learning system was discussed in detail. In particular, they talked about the educational platforms used at our university.

In order to increase students' respect for the language in honor of the "Festival of languages of the people of Kazakhstan", various events were held, including discussions, competitions. The goal is to teach students to understand the value of their native language, to feel the beauty of their native language, to understand the power of speech, to understand its importance in human life and to preserve the purity of the language, culture, oratory, love for the native language, and raise the status of the state language.
The message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Kemelovich Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan dated September 1, 2020 "Kazakhstan in a new situation: validity period" was discussed by professors and students of the Faculty of Philology and on September 3, 2020 they held an online webinar, which was conducted by Professor of the Department of Kazakh Linguistics Mamaeva G.B.
In addition, teachers and students discussed the Message at the council of the faculty and departments.
The Head of the faculty met with the students who entered this year and introduced them to the internal order of the university and the specifics of teaching.
Everyone knows that in 2020 we are celebrating the 175th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev. This issue was also in the center of attention of teachers of the Faculty of Philology. In this regard, together with the Department of General Linguistics and European Languages of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, a Republican scientific conference of students, postgraduates was held on the topic "The world and creativity of Abai Kunanbayev through the eyes of youth." International students also took part in the conference.
3rd year student of the Faculty of Philology Zhanarbek Lashin was awarded a III degree diploma for participation in the online competition "Songs of Abai" among non-professional performers, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan in honor of the 175th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayev.
This academic year is successful for the Faculty of Philology, the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages received a grant from the US Embassy under the Online English Fellow Program. As part of the program, the US Embassy in Kazakhstan in cooperation with Georgetown University (USA) sent August Garnsey as an English teacher. August Garnsey is a Certified Lecturer in courses such as CELTA, CLIL, and TKT. August Garnsey, together with the teachers of the department, began online lectures "Professionally oriented foreign language", "Innovative technologies for teaching a foreign language" and "Multimedia technologies in teaching a foreign language".
Other foreign professors invited to the faculty also began their lectures.
The "School of Pedagogical Skills" of the Faculty of Philology began its work. The goal of this school is to revive tradition and the process of succession. Exchange of experience between young and experienced teachers. The next school meeting was held online. Dean of the faculty Ardak Beisenbai, head of the school of pedagogical skills Gulzhan Doszhan and teachers of the faculty took part in its work.
At the opening ceremony of the meeting, Beisenbai A.B. presented the goals and objectives of the school: “According to modern requirements, young teachers should be aware of innovative educational technologies, as well as innovative areas of modern science and education. In this regard, the work of the master class should be aimed at increasing the professional competence of young teachers by organizing meetings with specialists in various fields, seminars and trainings, ”he said.
At the Faculty of Philology, a regular meeting of the department teachers responsible for educational and methodological work was held.
Beisenbai A.B. noted the need for a high-quality organization of the educational work of the faculty in the current pandemic period. In particular, he instructed to ensure the correct development of teaching materials and programs and their timely loading into the Platonus system. This is important in terms of providing students with access to learning materials in a distance learning context.
The meeting participants shared their views on the problem and exchanged constructive opinions.
Final conferences of pedagogical practice were organized at the departments and reports of students were heard.
