Professors of Bukhara State University undergo professional development courses at ENU to study modern teaching methods

From June 1 to 30, 2025, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) is conducting professional development courses for 17 professors from Bukhara State University (Uzbekistan) on the topic “Scientific and Innovative Activity and Modern Teaching Methodologies.” The program includes online sessions from June 1–8 and 23–30, and in-person lectures, seminars, and workshops from June 9–22.
At the opening ceremony of the in-person segment, ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov welcomed the guests and emphasized that ENU is ranked among the top 400 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2024. He noted that the university strives for continuous improvement in teaching quality and scientific research and expressed confidence that this collaboration will strengthen the academic and scientific ties between the two universities.
“For the past three years, ENU and Bukhara State University (BSU) have successfully developed bilateral cooperation through international academic exchange. Every year, ENU students undertake internships in Bukhara, PhD students of the ‘Tourism’ program train under BSU scholars, and faculty members exchange experience and improve their qualifications through academic mobility programs.
Considering the successful cooperation and mutual interest in enhancing academic and research ties, we have organized this professional development course for BSU faculty,” said the ENU Rector.
During the ceremony, deans and department heads of ENU also delivered welcoming speeches, emphasizing the importance of strengthening academic cooperation between universities. Invited experts shared recommendations on organizing scientific projects and implementing innovative teaching methods into the educational process.
Last week, Professor Rab Nawaz Lodhi (University of the Punjab, Pakistan; Virscend University, USA) delivered online lecture-seminars titled “Best Practices in Qualitative Research.” The sessions covered modern qualitative and mixed-methods research approaches, data analysis techniques, and project-based examples. Participants learned the key stages of the research process and were introduced to effective tools for their own projects.
According to Dr. Layli Mutalieva, Head of the Department of Tourism and coordinator of the course, the project will enhance ENU’s international reputation and expand the professional competencies of faculty members. It will also foster the growth of joint research publications and projects with foreign partners and open new opportunities for bilateral grant and research programs. Ultimately, this will strengthen ENU’s scientific and educational capacity and open new horizons for international collaboration.
The course will serve as a platform for productive exchange of ideas, development of international research, and creation of joint educational initiatives. ENU hopes that the knowledge gained will help BSU faculty integrate innovative methods into their teaching and strengthen their university’s scientific potential.
