
On February 28, 2024, the Board of Directors of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University approved the Sustainable Development Policy of L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University NJSC (Protocol No. 04/24). The document was developed in line with modern ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and reflects the university’s commitment to building a sustainable future.
The policy is based on the following principles:
- Environmental responsibility
• Social effectiveness
• Economic efficiency
The university is committed to minimizing its negative environmental impact, using natural resources efficiently, implementing eco-friendly, energy- and water-saving technologies, maintaining high social standards, and fostering conditions for sustainable economic growth.

Role of the Sustainable Development Center
Sustainable Development Center
The Sustainable Development Center serves as a key coordinating unit responsible for advancing sustainability and ESG integration across the university. The Center supports the university’s strategic development by embedding sustainable development principles into education, research, operations, and community engagement.
Its mission is to promote a holistic approach to sustainability, ensuring alignment with international standards and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Areas of Activity
- Preparation of sustainability reports, data collection, and analytical support (including ESG and international rankings);
- Development and implementation of initiatives aimed at improving educational programs and strengthening socio-economic and environmental sustainability;
- Organization expert discussions to identify long-term trends and development scenarios;
- Monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Action Plan (2024–2026);
- Coordination of university-wide sustainability projects and cross-departmental collaboration;
- Development of internal policies, guidelines, and recommendations in the field of sustainable development;
- Ensuring effective communication and dissemination of ESG-related information within the university community.
