ENU became the site of the IV Geological Forum KAZ Minerals – 2026

The 4th KAZ Minerals – 2026 Geological Forum was held at The L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, bringing together representatives of science and the mining industry. The participants discussed modern technologies, production tasks and prospects for the development of geology and mining.
This year, the central theme of the forum was "A Single Ecosystem: From Exploration to Processing." It reflects a modern approach to the development of the mining industry, where production efficiency directly depends on the interaction of various fields and specialists.
Opening the forum, ENU Vice-Rector for Science and Commercialization Nurbek Saparkhodzhayev noted that today the most effective solutions are formed at the junction of disciplines – geology, surveying, hydrogeology, geomechanics, mining planning, data enrichment and analysis.
During the forum, special attention was paid to the interaction of university science and the real sector of the economy.
"For the university, direct dialogue with production is of particular value. It helps to better understand the real technological challenges of the industry, form relevant research directions and train specialists who are able to work with modern data, digital tools and interdisciplinary projects," Vice-Rector emphasized.
At the same time, cooperation with the industry opens up opportunities for the scientific community, from the development of new approaches and technologies to expert evaluation of production solutions and applied research.
The forum featured presentations and practical cases covering a wide range of issues, from fundamental aspects of geology to modern manufacturing solutions. Key topics include digital targeting, core documentation, geotechnical risks, reserve assessment, water resources monitoring, ore flow management, the Mine-to-Mill concept, and geometallurgy.
