ENU and Harbin Polytechnic University have opened a Center for Kazakh-Chinese Innovation and Artificial Intelligence

The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted an international round table organized jointly with Harbin Polytechnic University of the People's Republic of China. The key event of the meeting was the opening of the Center for Kazakh-Chinese Innovation, Artificial Intelligence and Scientific and Cultural Exchange.

The new center was established in order to further develop scientific and educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, expand joint research activities, implement innovative projects and strengthen scientific and cultural ties between the two countries.

The opening of the center was an important step in the development of partnership between ENU and Harbin Polytechnic University and is designed to create new opportunities for interaction between scientists, teachers and young researchers.

The round table discussed topical issues of digital transformation and modern challenges related to the development of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

One of the central topics was the problem of online fraud using deepfake technologies and social engineering. The participants discussed issues of criminal law counteraction to new types of digital crimes, as well as prospects for improving legislation.

The event was attended by scientists, professors and young researchers from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and other countries. Special attention was paid to the development of international scientific cooperation, the exchange of research experience and the formation of new joint research projects.

ENU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Ardak Beisenbai noted the importance of strengthening scientific and educational ties between Kazakhstan and China.

"Today's meeting is not only an opportunity to discuss topical issues of the digital age, but also an important step in the development of international scientific cooperation. The development of artificial intelligence and digital technologies opens up new opportunities, while simultaneously creating new challenges. Therefore, joint research by scientists and young researchers is of particular importance," Ardak Beisenbai emphasized.

Zhou Zhiguo, Secretary of the party Organization of Harbin Polytechnic University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, stressed the importance of further expanding cooperation between the two universities.

"We are ready to further deepen cooperation with The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and jointly implement new scientific projects. I am confident that the newly opened center will become an important platform for scientific, technological and cultural exchange between the two countries," Zhou Zhiguo said.

The event also included a scientific seminar for young scientists from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on the topic "Forms of digital violence: criminal law counteraction to online bullying, stalking and psychological violence in the context of digitalization of society."

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Bauyrzhan Smatlayev and other ENU representatives made presentations and stressed the importance of developing international scientific cooperation.

"Today it has become possible to convincingly imitate a person's voice, image, and even manner of communication. This changes the usual ideas about how to commit fraud. Previously, a citizen could focus on the appearance, voice or personality of the interlocutor, but today even these signs no longer always guarantee the accuracy of information. That is why new questions arise for the legal science," B. Smatlayev said.

Young researchers presented their scientific developments on artificial intelligence, digital technologies, digital security, cultural exchange and Kazakh-Chinese scientific cooperation.
